The South Ogden 5K was pretty fun. Those are only my thoughts now that it's over. During and right after the race I thought I hated it. I have to admit I have been a bit of a slacker. My training over the last month has consisted of a few runs on the eliptical and mostly the Wii Fit. In May I was doing very good at running in the mornings. But I completed the 5K. I did walk two times. For about 10 steps (on a hill) and then I felt guilty so I picked up the pace. My time was 34 minutes. I know that's not record setting but for me it was ok. Plus it was my first race, all I can do is get better.

The worst part of the race was rounding the corner back to the park, thinking that it was the finish line and then realizing that I had to run another 1/3 of a mile before I was actually done. Good times. Jayben was excited to stretch out with me. A shout out to the Schultz family, who I started running with but could not keep up with their long legs. And Jordan (my friend from nursing school) who kicked butt at the race.

Don't feel too bad...when I did the 5K there I walked just about the entire thing. I couldn't move for like 2 weeks. Pretty sad! :)
How fun! Careful, the races get addicting... and the next thing you know you have agreed to do a full marathon. :) I hear that is a pretty area to race in.
Lets plan a playdate soon with the kids :)
Go Janessa! Good job.
Nice work! I ran my first 5K a few months ago. It was a lot of fun, but I too had to stop and walk a couple of times up the hills. Next time you sign up for a race let me know, I need to get running again.
Good job Janessa!! Trust me if I were running that race you would have kicked my butt!! You should run the fourth of July race in Riverdale. It is a good 5K. It goes on the trails and there really isn't any hills and you get a free shirt. anyway good job, at least you finished!!
You rock! That is about the time I got at my last race. I just think 'Wow! I just ran a 5K and lived to tell about it. How cool am I?"
Good job Janessa! At least you ran it. I'm with Kenners, if I would have ran it...I would have walked the entire thing and you would have really kicked my butt. AND the Riverdale race is a good race along the Weber County Parkway and it's free. They don't have prizes and all that jazz, but you get a free shirt (if you get there early enough). Our family has kind of made it a tradition. For those of us who don't run, we walk the 2 mile walk and then after there is a breakfast in the park for like $3 or $5.
Hey Guys!! We had no idea that you guys had a blog! We will have to add you to our "friends" so we can keep in better touch with you guys. It looks like the whole ward has a blog too. Good times!! Nice job on the 5K!
That's awesome, you go girl!
I could never do anything like that, but I might be in better shape if I just thought about trying. Congrats on finishing.
Seriously, though my walking pace was about the same as my jogging pace. I will get better. I guess I'd better or else I'll never finish a half marathon.
That is so cool! I wish I was a runner....alas I am so NOT a runner. You rock!
Good job there sister!
