This is going to be long and have lots of pictures for people who don't read so good...
Here is where I will start: Thursday October 28. Jayben's kindergarten class party. I volunteered to help. It was hilarious! Kindergarteners say the funniest things. From the girl who said "here" or "not here" for every kid during roll call, to the girl concerned that her pretzels or apples might contain pig and she doesn't eat pig. It was super fun. Still not sure why Jayben is in the back next to the tallest girl in the class. Oh well.
Friday, October 29: Trunk or treat.
Our ward does a trunk or treat every year. The night starts with chili and Olive Garden breadsticks, yumm! This year they had a carnival for the kids while the parents got their trunks ready. Jayben got lost. But fortunately was found safe and sound attempting to roll tables out of a church closet. He's seriously a broken bone waiting to happen. Our neighbor set up a little studio and they were taking Halloween photos so of course, we jumped at the opportunity to get free pics. Ben went as a Mexican, hence the handle-bar stache and sombrero. I went as the old standby, supergirl, Lincoln was a monkey and Jayben was a dinosaur.
Still Friday October 29. Eichmeiers annual Halloween party.
So, we left the kids at the trunk or treat with Bens dad(Thanks a million). We rushed home to get into costume number 2 for the night. This costume is the result of late night brainstorming, after Ben had turned down EVERY other costume idea I had come up with. And it is a classic. And on a plus side I had a theme for the night of life-saving.
We played minute to win it games and determined the winner of the Halloween bowl. Lisa and Aaron took home the grand prize. However, I did win best female costume.
As you can see there were many great costumes. Bryan even came with a ghetto blaster playing yo gabba gabba songs. Just an FYI: no they are not real. It's a plastic bust I found at Savers. But it didn't stop Ben from staring all night.
Saturday, October 30: Trick or treating
It rained! Boo. But Jayben did not want to go trick or treating at the mall. So, Ben was nice enough to brave the storm with him. I went crazy and bought way too many bags of candy, finally we just left it on the porch for the kids to take as many as they wanted because I for sure don't need it but I will eat it.
Jayben was a dinosaur again. But not just any dino, he was a giganotasaurus. Ya, most people don't know what that one is. If you watch dinosaur train on PBS you might know. Jayben told us it couldn't be a t-rex because it had too many fingers. (Bens kid)
Lincoln was our cute little monkey. Although, he cried everytime I put the costume on him.
That night I dressed up in a Asian looking robe and wore big eyelashes. Kind of looked creepy. Oh well.
Sunday,Halloween night October 31: Jona and Gloria's chili party.
Jona loves to make chili for Halloween. Every year we go over to their house and party and eat chili. Before the party Jayben decided he didn't want to wear his costume again so I told him to wear his shirt that says this is my costume. He refused, so I put it on. It was a little too tight though and it still didn't convince him to wear it. He did give in and wear his dino costume though. Ben on the other hand all of a sudden got the idea to dress like Kip from Napoleon Dynamite. It was really too good. He could have been a stunt double had their actually been some cage fighting in the movie.
This year we played some games. One of which was a donut eating game. I have to give props to Jona. He totally smoked Nick at a game we thought Nick would surely win. Jayben really wanted to do it. So after throwing a tantrum because he couldn't play against his cousin, we let Helaman eat another donut and play with Jayben, or battle as he called it. But Jayben cheated. He's 5, he's still learning the rules of life.
Happy Halloween! It was a blast. Hopefully next year I can just wear one costume though.
