My nurse, Barb was amazing. She had actually been my patient a few years ago so it was pretty cool to get to reverse the roles. Everything is kind of a blur. I progressed pretty slow at first. I was contracting on my own so they didn't start the pitocin until about 1:30. Finally, I started making a little progress. Barb knows some tricks to help with that and would rotate me from one side to the other and it helped the baby come down quickly. She checked me one last time before shift change and I was an 8. I told her that I could feel everything when she checked me but she said it was too late for another dose. She sat me up in "throne position" to help baby come down even more. I had to hold onto the bed rails and lift myself up to keep from pushing and relieve the "pressure".
The next nurse came in, Lisa, I told her that I needed to push, sure enough I was a 10. It all happened so fast that my parents hadn't even made it to the hospital. We decided that this delivery would just be Ben and I (and the hospital staff) since my mom couldn't be there. Dr. Bierer came in the room and I was trying to crack jokes to distract from the pain. I told him I was disappointed that he didn't have any gum and that he chews gum like Casey Keller the former U.S. mens goalie, while he got his stuff on. Finally, he said I could push. I could feel everything. I remember my friend Katie telling me that pushing helped relieve the pain so I pushed with all my might. One contraction and three pushes later I had a little girl laying on my chest.
The boys came in the room after she was born. They were so excited.
I was exhausted but completely happy and pain free!
I asked the CNA to put a bow on her head and she said that she had to keep a hat on but she would put a bow on it.
She made an adorable hat with a bow. The next day they put a real bow on her. We were excited about all the hair she has.
We weren't exactly planning on having a baby this weekend so we were not prepared. But it all worked out in the end. She didn't even have a name. We were trying to choose between Morgan and Brecklyn. In the middle of the first night I tried calling her Morgan and couldn't do it, so she became Brecklyn Jade.
We were excited to go home, especially since I had been there since Friday.
I'd watch out for these two. They are already trying to protect their little sister.
And this is the story of baby Brecklyn.

Is Lincoln naked in that picture with his "gun"?
Congrats Janessa! I had hydronephrosis with Abby. It was horrible, I had several trips to the ER and L&D due to pain. They finally induced me at 38 weeks because of kidney failure. I didn't feel all the way better until about six weeks after delivery when my uterus shrunk enough not to press on my ureter anymore. I'm glad she's here and you feeling better!
Horray and congrats. She's adorable janessa!
She is beautiful! You have such a darling family. You totally lucked out having Barb as your nurse, she is the absolute best! Congrats on your bundle of PINK :o)
