Bring on the rain!

We were lucky enough to get spots for the Ogden Marathon and Half marathon this year. It rained the entire race, which was ironic because a week before the race they were preparing us for the heat. And let's just say, it was not hot at all. At the start line Katie and I were waiting in line for a port a potty and the sprinklers went off. It was kind of funny. People were screaming but really we were already wet so it was just entertaining. We also met Jackson from The Biggest Loser. He was super nice.
Ben ran the marathon with his buddy Ben and they only met the port a potties at the start line!

 Ben's stats

Finish:3:30:04 Pace: 8:01
Ben has the funniest (now) stories of the marathon. While running because his phone was wet it kept getting stuck and he couldn't swipe it. Near the end of the race, the last 6 miles or so, it got stuck on
"Don't worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin. So, he had to listen to that on repeat over and over again!

Janessa's stats

After I finished the half Jay and I went to the car and I was so cold I couldn't even turn the ignition on. It was horrible. It turned out to be good that we finished first so that we could meet Ben at the finish line of the full marathon with a dry blanket and warm gloves and clothes. After Ben finished he said he just wanted to go home and he sounded like a 3 year old. But honestly, I had no judgement because I think we all felt that way. Our shoes were completely soaked and I could literally dump out the water. Ben weighed himself after and his clothes alone weighed 5 lbs. It was insane. So far Ben is 2 out of 3 marathons in the rain. Not the best odds.
But I'd still do it again. And Like always, I say I will train better next time.
