What do most people do on Thanksgiving Day? EAT, EAT, and EAT some more. This year we made sure to include some activities that would burn enough calories to help us with all that eating. Katie and I went on a Turkey trot at ORMC. All you had to do was bring a can of food donation (which I took literally, because all the other canned goods I wanted to give were expired). It was Katie's first race experience. She did awesome. I however, have not been running with the exception of soccer. It was a sweet 5 mile race. Not too shabby. But Katie is nearly a foot taller than me so I had to take 3 steps for every 1 of hers. And I willingly let her go ahead of me (plus she was practically walking). All is well, I ran until my calf cramped and I HAD to stop and stretch. But I finished the race and it felt good!
Ben went to play some soccer. Surprise, surprise! We had to split up our activities because we had to make enough mashed potatoes for 30 people. Ahhh! So, I came home from the run just in time to start boiling the potatoes and have them done in time for our Thanksgiving feast. I had 4 pots going at the same time. Mostly because Ben thought that a potato the size of my head would only feed two people. As if. Needless to say we had leftovers; in fact we had enough leftovers for 3 small families.
It was a great day and like always a great meal.
