It's the climb!

Yes, I just made reference to a Miley Cyrus song and yes I sang it while I was running on Saturday.
I have officially dubbed this race, "The climb" because after running up 36th street and Skyline drive you then have to run up 42nd street. Literally it was 3.5 miles uphill! Before the race I made a few goals. 1. To finally conquer 36th street. 2. Not to walk at all 3. Finish in under 2 hours. I was able to meet all of my goals.
I do have to thank a few people though. Amy just happened to be running the trails near the top of 36th street and she saw me just as I wanted to walk. Just hearing someone cheering me on gave me a nice adrenalin rush to keep going. Then there was this old guy who I thought was about 70 who was running the race with me at my same pace. He kept me going up 42nd street and even tried to pull me to sprint in the last mile. I ended up crossing the finish line at 1:56:08. I feel like I perfected the slog! Slow + jog= slog. My knees are sore but I am happy to say that I did it.

You're awesome. I don't think I could ever get into running. Jacob tried, that lasted about 2 seconds. The only running thing I like is soccer so maybe I'll have to play some after Spencer...only I'm not very good!

Nice work Ness! That was my neck of the woods for running when I was in O-town....the hills worked me (espeially when I was pushing Maria, which was most the time!). You need to check out the trails up there (right off 36th and above Skyline). They offer beautiful views and you run 5 miles without noticing it as much because it is so beautiful. Email me if you need specifics, but you should try it out, I think you will really like it. Keep it up. I am impressed!
