memorial day weekend

Luckily, I didn't have to work this weekend. Saturday we went running in the morning. I ran 4 miles with Lincoln in tow. Oh man, that is killer. Then that night played two soccer games. I was sure feeling it on Sunday.
Sunday started as a typical day. We went to church, wrestled Jayben during sacrament meeting, and rushed out of the building after the closing prayer. While we were making lunch, we put Lincoln in the high chair with a graham cracker and made Jayben a bowl of cereal. I was putting some food in the toaster oven and I hear Ben say, "Lincoln is choking!" I look over and sure enough he was. Apparently, I ran over at the speed of Clark Kent (aka Superman), ripped the tray off of the high chair and pulled Lincoln out. I did a quick abdominal thrust and nothing happened. His eyes were watering and kind of had this blank look. It scared the crap out of me. Ben said, "he's choking" again. I said, "I know, it's not coming out." Finally, I dislodged the chunk of graham cracker and Ben did the finger sweep to remove it. He had bit off about 1/3 of the cracker. Lincoln didn't even cry after. He just smiled as if to say, thanks for saving me, mom. It was the longest 10 seconds of my life. And neither Ben or I were hungry after that. And I somehow managed to take a 2 hour nap after the incident.
Monday was good. Ben and I both took the boys jogging. I had Lincoln in one stroller and Ben had Jayben in another one. I ran for about 3.6 miles before I thought my legs would give out. I don't recommend doing hills with a stroller. Ben ran 4 with Jayben. He would take the long routes and we would meet up. After the run we were ready for a traditional memorial day swim. It was time to introduce Lincoln to the pool. He loved it. He wouldn't look away from the water and kept splashing all over the place.

Jayben was a champ in the pool too. We really need to teach him to swim (without a life jacket).
Oh and we gave him a sweet new hair cut on Saturday too!
Jayben jumped around in the bounce house for a while then it was back to the pool.

Lincoln enjoyed the slide. Until I went to take his picture at the bottom and he fell over. The good news is I still got his picture at the bottom of the slide and nobody was harmed.

After he rolled around in the grass for a while he wanted back in the water. The hot tub was not so hot after being open all day. But he loved it anyway, he just sat on Ben for a while and was just chillin.

We finally went home at 7:45. Got everyone showered and everyone was in bed by 9pm. Jayben didn't wake up today until 9:45am. I'm thinking we are going to be spending a lot of time at the pool this summer!

Sounds like you had a great memorial day!!! I like the idea of my children sleeping in until 9. Only one who will is Bella. My kids wish we had a pool. Someday!!!

Pools are lots of fun. I remember when our pool at home was fun also. You say we never had a pool, well don't you remember that little blow up one, small but still fun. However Grandpa Whitesides' pool is bigger, deeper, better, and a whole lot more fun. Keep up the good work of turning my grand-kids into fish people. Grandpa Jay

Man, that is scary that he was choking! I am glad he is okay. Besides that, sounds like it was a great holiday weekend! We need to go swimming at whitesides. Brooklyn would love it.

Yikes... good reaction time! That is the scariest feeling in the world when a child is choking. Love the pictures :-)
