I run to you

Ben and Nick set out on their journey to run a FULL marathon. 26.2 miles! Friday night they went with Jay and stayed overnight in Logan. After a carb loading amount of pasta, they walked around Logan, had some blessings, and hit the sack early. They even gave themselves some inspirational tattoos, with their goal time and mileage!

The morning started early. They had to be on the bus by 5:30am. The actual run started at 7am. Just in time for the rain to start. They were hit with some killer storms on their journey. Twice, with hail! But mostly it rained.
We had to hide  in grandpa Jays car to escape the rain.
I found Ben and Nick just after mile 20. This is where the finish line for the half marathon is.
They actually looked really good. I did have to tell the boys not to run and hug them. I knew they would either trip them or take them away from their rhythm.

We hurried to our next stop to hope to see them again.
Luckily just before mile 24 we found Ben. Nick was just a few minutes behind him.
After I saw Ben here I took a short cut to the finish line. And waited there for my man to accomplish his goal.
Finally we saw him coming. Jayben took off to run in with him. I got a little emotional watching it. Ben also got emotional but his might have been out of pain.

Love, love , love this picture. Bens expression as he reaches for Jayben is just perfect.
Ben made it in his goal time! 3:50:22

Ben wore a continuous glucose monitor the entire race so he had to wear my running belt to hold the receiver. His sugar was perfect the entire race. He even turned off his pump after mile 6.

Nick really wanted a hug after the race because he was so cold. Cass was kind enough to give him one but she was a little unsure of it at first.

Thanks to Josh and Harm for the decorations at our house, and of course , Cass, Scarlet, Peggy and Jay for supporting these boys at the finishline of the marathon. These were the signs I made. I thought they were inspirational!

Marathon Stats:
Ben: 3:50:22
480/1831 total runners
346/968 total male runners
66/159 age group

Nick: 3:56:55
590/1831 total runners
413/968 total male runners

Will Ben run another marathon?
That's to be decided, maybe ask him after he can walk normal again!!!
