Here is Lincoln's first encounter with Santa this year at our neighborhood Christmas party.
Here are the boys at the ward Christmas party. It went a little better.
This last picture has a little background story.
When I got out all of our Christmas stuff we realized that we had an extra Christmas tree. Jayben REALLY wanted it in his room. So since Thanksgiving he has had the tree in his room. What kid doesn't love having their own tree?
Earlier this week, we learned about a family that was in need. One item they didn't have was a Christmas tree. I asked Jayben if he wanted to give it to these kids and he was not happy about it. Later that night he found a candy cane that Grandma Peggy had given him. He knew that if he did something good then he could eat the candy cane. Jayben came to Ben on his own and with the candy cane in hand said "dad, I know what the answer is to giving the tree away...YES!" He was so excited (Jayben and Ben).
We delivered the tree to the family. Jayben showed them how to put it together and got to plug the lights in. The family was so grateful and excited. They immediately started decorating it with some ornaments they were given.
It was a neat experience to get to do that with Jayben. Especially to have it be by his own choice. On the way home from giving them the tree he said that he wanted to come home and find some toys to give to them too. And then added that he was probably on the nice list now.
Yes, Jayben, yes you are!

That top picture looks familiar. That's all Hesston does when he sees Santa. I love the tree story. It's amazing how kids can have such a big heart.
That is the sweetest story. What a good boy Jayben is!
